Question:
What is the difference between plasma and serum?
Answer:
Plasma is the liquid part of blood that contains clotting factors, while serum is plasma without those clotting proteins. When blood clots, the remaining fluid is serum. Both contain nutrients, hormones, and antibodies, but only plasma helps in clot formation.
Quick Difference
- Plasma: Has fibrinogen - helps in clotting.
- Serum: No fibrinogen - obtained after clotting.
