Recent NEET UG 2026 News

a) Application Deadline Extended to March 11

The NTA has extended the NEET UG 2026 application deadline March 11, 2026, The application process officially began on february 8, 2026, giving candidates around 33 days to get their registration done.

b) Application Form Correction Window Open (March 12-14, 2026)

As per the news, the NTA has opened the NEET UG 2026 correction window from March 12 to March 14, 2026 (until 11:50 pm), aspirants have been allowed to modify certain areas in their application, including exam city preferences, category, educational qualifications, and personal information. 

c) Exam City Slip Expected Shortly

As per the news, the NTA is expected to releas the NEET UG 2026 exam city slip on their official website, which will contain the allotted examination city and centre details, so that the aspirants could prepare their accommodation beforehand. The admit card is expected to release in April 2026.

d) New Security Measures Introduced for NEET 2026

Given below are some security and verification measures for NEET UG 2026:

  • Students are required to upload a LIVE PHOTO taken at the time of form filling on a light coloured background.
  • NTA strongly advise all aspirants to go for their Aadhaar card based verification while filling the form.
  • Exam centres are spread across 566 cities and aspirants must select 3 preferred cities based on their permanent and present address. 
  • Candidates Aadhaar card, caste/category certificate and UDID card details should all be updated before registration, as per NTA. 

NEET UG 2026 Syllabus Officially Released!

The NEET UG 2026 syllabus has been officially released by the Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) on the National Medical Commission (NMC) website in December 2025. The syllabus remains unchanged and will follow the revised NMC guidelines introduced in 2023, based on Class 11th and 12th NCERT curriculum.  

a) Physics Topics

The NEET Physics syllabus draws topics from both Class 11 and 12 Syllabus:

  • Class 11: Physical World and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body, Gravitation, Properties of Bulk Matter, Thermodynamics, Behaviour of Perfect Gas and Kinetic Theory, Oscillations and Waves.
  • Class 12: Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Atoms and Nuclei, Electronic Devices.

b) Chemistry Topics

The NEET Chemistry syllabus has 3 branches Physical, Organic, and Inorganic Chemistry:

  • Physical Chemistry: Some Basic Concepts, Structure of Atom, States of Matter, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Chemical Kinetics, Surface Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Solutions.
  • Inorganic Chemistry: Classification of Elements and Periodicity, Hydrogen, s-Block and p-Block Elements, d- and f-Block Elements, Coordination Compounds, Environmental Chemistry.

Biology and is the easiest to score if studied right  and carries the most marks in the NEET UG 2026 exam (90 questions, 360 marks) and has 2 branches - Botany and Zoology:

NEET UG 2026 Exam Pattern

The NEET exam pattern remains unchanged this year too. Given below are the details of the exam pattern:

  • The paper is conducted in offline (pen-and-paper) mode 
  • Paper consists of 180 compulsory MCQs 
  • Time duration: 3 hours
  • All 180 questions are compulsory 
  • Total marks are 720.

Marking Scheme for NEET UG 2026 goes as:

  • Correct answer: +4 marks
  • Incorrect answer: -1 mark
  • Unattempted / Skipped: 0 marks 

NEET Score Formula: (Number of Correct Answers × 4) – (Number of Incorrect Answers × 1)
