LATEST: Updated ICSE Class 10 Syllabus for 2024-25

CISCE, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations revises its class 10 Board exam syllabus regularly. Last year 2023-2024 CISCE reduced the ICSE syllabus class 10 and released its rationalised syllabus on its website. This year for the 2024-2025 session there has been no reduction in the ICSE 2025 syllabus class 10 and the session 2024-2025 will follow the same rationalised syllabus for 2024-25 for all its subjects.

ICSE  Class 10 Syllabus 2025: Overview 

In the ICSE curriculum for class 10, the subjects are divided into three groups Group I (All subjects in this group are compulsory), Group II (You have to choose only two subjects from this group), Group III ( You have to choose only one subject from this group). As the marks distribution for all the subjects is concerned 80 marks are for external exams + 20 marks allotted for internal assessment/project work.

ICSE 2024-25 Regulation Updates

The compartment exam provided by the board is discontinued from the year 2024 onwards. However, you can take an improvement exam to improve the marks in the same year as the exam.  A maximum of two subjects only will be allowed for improvement. The higher marks out of the Main Exam Vs. Improvement Exam will be considered as the final mark. 

ICSE Class 10 2024-25: Paper Pattern of Group I

English 

There will be two papers

Paper 1: English Language

Paper 2: Literature in English

Each paper consists of-

Total Marks: 80 

Time: 2 Hours 

Paper 1: English Language

There will be five questions in this paper: grammar, unseen comprehension passage, notice and email writing, letter writing, and unseen composition. All five questions are compulsory so you are required to answer all five questions. 

Paper 2: Literature in English

There will be four sections in this paper. Questions from Prose, Poetry, and Drama will be asked from the prescribed textbook. Excerpts from the drama and prose texts and passages from poems will be given and the questions will be framed around them. 

Hindi ( Second Language)

Total Marks: 80 

Time: 3 Hours 

The paper will be divided into two sections, Section A and Section B.

Section A: Language (40 Marks)

Section B: Prescribed Texts (40 Marks)

All the questions in Section A are compulsory and consist of questions from Composition, Letter, Comprehension, and Grammar. Candidates must attempt any four questions from Section B. The questions will consist of structured and short answer questions. 

History & Civics

Total Marks: 80 

Time: 2 Hours 

This paper consists of two parts: Part I (30 marks) will contain short answer questions from the entire syllabus. Part II (50 Marks)will consist of Section A (Civics)  and Section B (History). Candidates will be required to answer two out of three questions from Section A and three out of five questions from Section B. 

Geography

Total Marks: 80 

Time: 2 Hours 

This Paper will consist of two parts, Part I and Part II. Part I (Map Work) is compulsory and will consist of two questions. Question 1 will be based on Topographical Map while Question 2 will be based on an outline Map of India. In Part II (Geography of India): Candidates will be required to answer any five questions. Candidates will be allowed and are expected to make the fullest use of sketches, graphs, diagrams, and charts while writing the answers.

ICSE Class 10 2024-25: Paper Pattern of Group II

Mathematics

Total Marks: 80 

Time: 2.5 Hours 

This paper will be divided into two sections:  Section I (40 marks) and Section II (40 marks).

Section I will consist of compulsory short answer questions while in Section II candidates will be required to answer four out of seven questions. The solution to a question may require the knowledge of more than one branch of the syllabus.

Physics

Total Marks: 80 

Time: 2 Hours 

The paper will be divided into two sections, Section I (40 marks) and Section II (40 marks). Section I (compulsory) will consist of short answer questions. Section II will consist of six questions out of which candidates will be required to answer any four questions.

Note: Unless otherwise specified, only SI Units are allowed to answer questions.

Chemistry

Total Marks: 80 

Time: 2 Hours 

This paper will be divided into two sections, Section I (40 marks) and Section II (40 marks).

Section I (compulsory) will contain short answer questions. Section II will consist of six questions out of which candidates will be required to answer any four questions.

Biology

Total Marks: 80

Time: 2 Hours 

This paper will be divided into two sections, Section I (40 marks) and Section II (40 marks).

Section I (compulsory) will contain short answer questions. Section II will consist of six questions out of which candidates will be required to answer any four-question.

Economics

Total Marks: 80

Time: 2 Hours 

This paper will consist of two sections: Section A will consist of questions requiring short answers and will cover the entire syllabus. All the questions will be compulsory. Section B will consist of questions that will require detailed answers. There will be a choice and candidates will be required to answer four questions from this section.
