CBSE Class 10 Mathematics Comic Books 2021 - Download Chapter-wise PDFs

With all the efforts that CBSE makes to impart knowledge to students, it has become easier and more fun for both teachers and students to carry out their tasks. CBSE had made Art-integrated learning compulsory for the 2020-21 session and that helped bring out the creativity in many students.

On March 24, 2021, Hon'ble Minister of Education announced the release of 100+ comic books for students of Class 3 to 12 to support the Art-integrated study practice. These comics are created by teachers of CBSE affiliated schools, curated by NCERT, and made available on the Diksha platform.

As soon as these comics were released, we, at Educart, went through each of them to bring you a detailed analysis. Down below, you will find our observations of the CBSE Class 10 Mathematics Comic Book made available so far by CBSE.

Subject (Mathematics) Chapter/ Topic-wise PDF
Standard/ Basic Chapter 8/9: Introduction to Trigonometry and its Applications

Now, let’s dive straight into what this CBSE Maths comic book has to offer.

The comic starts with some helping tools, including the Index, Mind Maps, character names, and Learning Objectives. Each of these elements give an idea of the comic book’s content and what the students will be able to learn going further.

But the question is that are these elements and the content of the comic book actually beneficial for students (as learning resources) and teachers (as teaching material)? Let’s contemplate the same with the help of some Advantages and Shortfalls that we have observed.

  • Keeps the Students Engaged: Even though the graphics are poorly presented, these comic books work great in holding a student’s attention on the subject. The students that are unwilling or incapable of understanding the concepts of Trigonometry are also able to get some help in the topic.
  • Application-based Scenarios: This comic book explains the applications of trigonometry in a way that the students can actually understand their use in real-life situations.
  • Detailed Explanation: In this story, a student is asked several questions based on the concepts of trigonometry. The depiction of how the student thinks of each answer is explained very well.
  • Practice Questions: After every section, students have to answer some objective questions that help test their knowledge. This also helps the teachers to keep the students engaged even more.

  • Unsuitable Questions: This comic book comes with worksheets after every section but each of them has some questions like “Match the Following” and “Crossword Puzzle”, which will not prepare the students for new types of questions as per the latest Class 12 Board exam pattern.
  • Not Enough Chapters: So far, the teachers and students only have chapter 8 and 9 as per the NCERT textbook. This is simply not enough to add more value to the study material or teaching resources. If CBSE wants the teachers to adopt this comic book as a learning material, they must at least make one available for all the chapters.
  • Inconsistent Pattern: It is evident that CBSE teachers will not be able to change their teaching style for just one chapter that is explained with the help of this comic book. It would only cause more confusion and inconsistency in the teaching style.
  • Distractive: These books are supposed to be used as supplementary content for easy learning but some students can get distracted and spend hours reading all these mini books. Yet, they would not gain any better understanding of the provided topics than what NCERT textbook has to offer.

We hope this information helps you to decide if the CBSE Class 10 Comic Books are effective for learning the chapters in Class 10 Mathematics curriculum better.
