Shiksha Bharti Public School in Gurugram hosted a CPD Teachers Training Workshop on Classroom Management in collaboration with Educart. The session was led by Dr. Sonika Chauhan, an experienced CBSE Resource Person known for her expertise in teacher training and effective classroom practices. The workshop was coordinated by BDM Deepam and attended by the entire teaching staff.
Dr. Chauhan started with a basic but important question, Why manage classrooms?
Many teachers think classroom management is just about keeping students disciplined and quiet. But she explained it's much more than that. Effective classroom management is an art that reflects how teachers teach, interact, and perform in the learning space. It's about creating an environment where learning can actually happen.
She covered several key principles that modern teachers need to understand. Dr. Chauhan also talked about building strong teacher student relationships. She explained that consistent routines, respectful communication, and understanding where students are coming from helps create trust and improve behavior naturally. Instead of yelling or punishing, teachers should redirect respectfully and keep communication open. Finally, she encouraged a problem solving approach. When issues come up, teachers should try to understand why it's happening, talk it through with the student, and find structured solutions instead of just giving detentions or punishments that don't really solve anything. Throughout the workshop, Dr. Chauhan shared real life examples and actionable strategies that teachers could use right away. Teachers appreciated her practical approach and left with a fresh perspective. They understood that classroom management isn't about being strict or controlling, it's about creating a safe, engaging, structured space where every student feels respected and can succeed.
