Question:

Why does the rainfall decrease from the east to the west in Northern India?

Answer:

In Northern India there is a gradual decrease in rainfall from the east to the west. The decline in the humidity of the winds is responsible for it. As the moisturebearing winds of the Bay of Bengal start moving inland, their moisture content reduces. Due to this the rainfall also decreases from the east to the west direction.
