Most of the world's deserts are located in the western margins of continents in the subtropics because the winds flowing in the tropics are tropical easterly winds. By the time these winds reach the Western margins of the continent, they become dry and cause no rainfall. Therefore, the region becomes dry and devoid of moisture leading to the formation of the desert.
