Question:
The volume of 50 g of a substance is 20 cm3. If the density of the water is 1 g cm–3 will the substance float or sink ?
Answer:
According to question–
Mass of the substance m = 50 g
Volume of the substance v = 20 cm3
density of water = 1 g cm–3
density of the substance = mass / volume
density of the substance = 50/20
density of the substance = 2.5 g cm–3
The density of the substance is 2.5 g cm–3 and it is greater than the density of water so. The substance will sink.
