What is Notice Writing?

You might have heard the term “NOTICE” or might have seen it printed somewhere but what is the meaning of “NOTICE” and how is it different from other writing pieces like letters and articles?

Structure of Notice

A notice writing format is as mentioned below.


  • Name of the Organization/ Institution: This will include the organization or institution’s name who is the issuing authority of the notice.
  • Title: The title of any notice will always be “NOTICE”. The title itself is an indication that a user is going to read a notice.
  • Date: It includes the date on which the notice is issued.


  • Heading: Just like an email or a letter’s subject, the heading in a NOTICE is the subject itself. It includes a subject that will give the reader an idea about what this notice is about.
  • Body: The main part that covers the information or announcement in a precise manner. The writer had to summarise the entire information in limited words. 
  • Signature and Designation: To let the readers know about the issuer of the notice, this includes the name of the issuer along with their designation (IN CAPITALS).

Types of Notices

Meetings / Discussions

As the name suggests, it includes notices intending to inform members regarding meetings or discussions by schools, offices, societies, etc.
