CUET (UG) Syllabus 2026: Exam Structure and Subject-wise Syllabus

The National Testing Agency (NTA), as the official conducting body of the CUET exam, has not yet released the CUET 2026 syllabus. As it stands, there are no announced changes from the previous year, so we can assume that the syllabus might still include the complete Class 12 NCERT syllabus like last year. So, candidates who are preparing for CUET 2026 must now start their studies and concentrate on NCERT books and previous trends.

To increase the chances of obtaining a positive result, candidates must make sure they cover the entire syllabus and examination structure. CUET (UG) 2026 is aimed at assessing the conceptual academic knowledge of the candidate, as well as accuracy under time pressure.

CUET 2026 Examination Structure

Knowing the CUET 2026 exam pattern and marking scheme allows for perfect preparation. The structure of the CUET UG 2026 exam will likely follow the previous year's structure

Mode of Exam: The CUET UG 2026 exam will be conducted online via Computer-based Testing (CBT). All questions will be in the Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) format. 

Exam Structure and Question Distribution 

Section I (Languages): This paper will have 50 questions, but students are required to attempt 40. 

Section II (Domain Subjects): This paper will have 50 questions, but students are required to attempt 40.

Section III (General Aptitude Test): This paper will have 50 questions, but students are required to attempt 40.

Time Allotment: Students will have 45 minutes to answer all questions in language and domain subjects and 60 minutes for the general test. 

Scoring Method: Correct Answer – Students will get plus five marks (+5) for each correct answer. Negative Marking – There will be a deduction of one mark (-1) for each wrong answer.

In CUET 2025, NTA removed 30-40% of the syllabus from many subjects. 20 foreign languages and 6 domain subjects, which included entrepreneurship, Teaching Aptitude, Fashion Studies, Tourism, Legal Studies, and Engineering Graphics, were eliminated. 

Flexibility of Choice 

  • Students can take a maximum of 6 subjects from all sections.
  • 2 languages are mandatory

Syllabus Alignment

The syllabus is expected to be based entirely on Class 12 NCERT textbooks. A few essential Class 11 concepts may be included if they are closely related to Class 12 chapters.

Mandatory Questions: Each paper (Language, Domain, General Test) has 50 questions. Students must answer 40 out of 50 within the time limit.This setup offers flexibility while ensuring all key topics are covered.‍

CUET UG 2026: Section-wise Syllabus 

The CUET UG 2026 syllabus is divided into three main sections: Language (I A & B), Domain Subjects (II), and the General Test (III). This structure is designed to test a wide range of academic abilities.

This section of the CUET UG 2026 syllabus is designed to evaluate a candidate's proficiency in language skills. It includes two parts–Section IA and Section IB.

As per the official announcement by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the CUET 2026 syllabus includes the entire Class 12 NCERT topics and chapters. Section I: Language

This section of CUET examines a student’s language skills, which include reading ability, the usage of grammar, email and report writing and vocabulary in these languages. It is intended to assess both comprehension of fact and interpretation of literary meaning.
