NEET 2021 Vacant Seats Update: Supreme Court Agrees to Consider the Plea of Medical Students

Supreme Court Agrees to allow medical students to appear for a special stray round of counseling

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is conducted every year by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for medical students. The NEET 2021 paper was leaked, according to the students who found the question paper was floating on Whatsapp and in this scam, a Jaipur-based student was found guilty.

After the FIR filed by advocate Mamata Sharma, CBI found that big coaching centers and paper-solving gangs are involved in this scam. It was clear that the NEET (UG) - 2021 paper was leaked and after that students filed a plea in Supreme Court to cancel the NEET 2021 exam.

The previous NEET (UG) counseling got delayed and in some states, it is still going on. So, now the students who will not get through the NEET 2021 exam are demanding to push the mid-July schedule further ahead to prepare for the NEET 2022.

The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to consider the plea by medical students to fill the vacant medical postgraduate seats for a special stray round of counseling. Whether the exam will get delayed or not is still not clear.

A vacation bench of M R Shah and Aniruddha Bose asked the counsel appearing for the candidates to serve a copy of the petition to the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC), National Board of Examination, and Center. The matter will now be heard on June 8.
