Explain how defects in a metal block can be defected using ultrasound?
Answer:
Ultrasound is used to detect defects in blocks made of metals. Cracks or holes in metal blocks that are not visible from outside. Ultrasound waves are passed through metal blocks and detectors which are used to defect the transmitted waves. If there is even a slight defect, then the ultrasound waves get reflected. These reflected waves explain the presence of the defect.
