New Delhi, April 28th, 2026 - Educart hosted The Classroom Reset 2026-27, a free studio-based webinar on 26 April 2026, bringing together respected voices in school leadership for a focused conversation on value education and modern classroom realities.

Hosted by Nishant Singh Lakra, the session brought together three respected school leaders to help teachers build 21st-century values like integrity, resilience, and empathy.

The Panellists

  • Dr. Neeta Bali - Director Academics, MVN Group of Schools
  • Dr. Jyoti Gupta - Director, K.R. Mangalam World School, GK-2
  • Mrs. Seema Jerath - Principal, DLF Public School

Segment 1: Why Value Education Matters Now

The panel agreed that shrinking attention spans, social media exposure, and instant gratification have made value education more urgent than ever.

  • Dr. Bali recommended using “brain breaks” and consciously building grit in students.
  • Dr. Gupta emphasised that values should be integrated across all subjects, not taught separately.
  • Mrs. Jerath shared a real-life example of a student who once burned his physics files. Instead of strict action, the school used reflection and a public apology. Years later, he returned as a disciplined army officer - showing how value-based correction can transform lives.

Segment 2: Real Classroom Case Studies

The panel addressed three real classroom situations:

  • A student mocked for math mistakes: Dr. Bali advised co-creating "essential agreements" in class, firmly stopping derogatory behaviour, and rebuilding the student's confidence privately.
  • A student caught cheating due to parental pressure: Dr. Gupta cautioned against public humiliation quietly handing the student a fresh paper and addressing the root cause with parents privately.
  • A teacher wanting to resign due to a rebellious class: Mrs. Jerath suggested calmly establishing classroom norms with students, using strategic silence, and seeking school leadership support.

The key takeaway: a teacher's first response is crucial, and correction must always protect a student's dignity while addressing the root cause.

Segment 3: Mythbusters: Education Truths vs. Misconceptions

The panellists separated common classroom beliefs into reality and myth:

  • Reality (Dr. Bali): Consistency in consequences matters; schools must have clearly displayed discipline policies.
  • Myth (Dr. Gupta): Sustained academic pressure prepares a child for life - sports, arts, and emotional development matter just as much.
  • Myth (Mrs. Jerath): Allowing mistakes lowers academic seriousness - students learn more from failure and reflection.
  • Reality (Dr. Gupta): Students repeat behaviours to gain peer attention.
  • Myth (Mrs. Jerath): Treating every student exactly the same is fair - equity, not equality, is the goal.

Segment 4: Practical Classroom Activities

The panellists shared simple, ready-to-use strategies that teachers can weave into their everyday classrooms to nurture values without adding extra workload. Each suggestion focused on small, consistent actions that build empathy, respect, and emotional awareness over time.

  • Mrs. Seema Jerath: Appoint emotionally aware students as "Empathy Managers" to support a bully-free classroom and help shy or special-needs peers.
  • Dr. Jyoti Gupta: Integrate values into everyday teaching - for instance, teaching respect for support staff during EVS lessons.
  • Dr. Neeta Bali: Strengthen school culture through old age home visits, guest sessions on life values, morning affirmations, and quiet end-of-day reflection.

Segment 5: Rapid Fire: Quick Insights from the Panel

The session’s most engaging round asked panellists to give quick, honest answers without overthinking. The questions covered classroom rules, teacher behaviour, and values, leading to simple and practical insights from their experience.

Some standout responses from the round:

  • One value more important than marks in the long run? Resilience - Mrs. Jerath
  • One phrase teachers should stop using? "Did you understand?" - replace it with specific comprehension checks. - Mrs. Jerath
  • One behaviour never to ignore? Self-harm - Dr. Gupta
  • One quality every teacher must have? Be a lifelong learner. - Dr. Bali

One change schools should make? Weave value education into daily academic transactions instead of treating it as a standalone subject. - Dr. Bali

Q&A Round Highlights

The webinar ended with a Q&A where teachers asked about real classroom challenges. The panellists gave simple, practical advice on managing screen time, handling parental pressure, and supporting overall student growth.

  • Dr. Gupta suggested integrating a daily one-hour sports period into the morning schedule.
  • Mrs. Jerath advised teachers to "connect before you correct."
  • Dr. Bali recommended expert sessions on digital validation, school firewalls, and increased physical activity to combat excessive social media use.

To handle parental pressure for grades, the panel collectively recommended regular parent engagement, celebrating non-academic achievements at award ceremonies, and setting SMART goals collaboratively with parents.

Conclusion

The principals signed off by urging teachers to be kind, believe in their power to shape eternity as educators, and remain mindful that their words carry immense weight.

Nishant Singh Lakra concluded the session by thanking the panellists for their valuable insights on value education and reflecting on the webinar’s success. He added:

"The energy and engagement from teachers across the country were truly inspiring. It reaffirms our belief that India's educators are eager for meaningful conversations that go beyond syllabus completion.
