Board examinations can be a challenging time for students, as they not only need to focus on their studies but also cope with the stress and pressure associated with exams.
After understanding the depth of the situation, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) launched free psycho-social counseling services for students of Class 10 and 12 appearing in board examinations 2026.

These services will commence from the 1st phase from January 6, 2026 to assist students in preparing for their upcoming theory examinations which are scheduled to begin on February 17, 2026.
By providing accessible counseling and mental health support, CBSE ensures that students approach their board exams with increased confidence, clarity and calm.
Purpose of the Counseling Support
According to CBSE, the 1st phase will continue till June 1, 2026 covering the entire cycle of board examinations making it an initiative which is holding students' hands throughout the period.
The purpose of this counseling support:
- Helps students manage exam stress and academic pressure.
- Promotes healthy study habits and time management.
- Encourages emotional well-being and balanced preparation.
- Addresses anxiety and fear related to board examinations.
Key Features of Student Support
Students are provided support in varied way and their key features are listed below:
24*7 Toll-Free IVRS (1800-11-8004)
- On dialing the toll free number, students can access round-the-clock support in both Hindi and English through the Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS).
- The IVRS provides useful information related to stress-free preparation, time management strategies, and answers to frequently asked questions about examinations.
- It also shares important contact details related to CBSE support services if required by the students.
Tele-Counseling Services (9:30 Am - 5:30 Pm., Monday to Friday)
- With this, students and parents are provided a diverse support network on a voluntary basis.
- They can interact with a panel of 73 trained professionals comprising important people like Principals, Counselors, Special Educators for CBSE-affiliated schools, and qualified Psychologists.
- Out of the 73 professionals involved in the programme, 61 counselors are based in India, while 12 counselors are located abroad in countries such as Nepal, Japan, Qatar, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates.
Digital Resources
- CBSE has also made additional digital resources as support for the students.
- These resources have engaging materials that focus on real things like stress management techniques, effective study strategies and emotional well-being.
- The digital content is designed to help students develop practical methods for managing academic pressure and maintaining a healthy study routine.
CBSE encourages both students and parents to make the best use of these resources to help the students navigate well through the examination cycle.
