Question:
Judge the equivalent resistance when the following (a) 1 Ω and 106 Ω, (b) 1 Ω and 103 Ω and 106 Ω.
Answer:
(a) When resistance is arranged in parallel,
1/RP = 1/R1 + 1/R2
1/RP = 1/1 + 1/106
1/RP = (106+1)/ 106
RP = 106/ (106+1) ~ 106/ (106
RP = 1Ω
(b)Similarly,
1/RP = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3
1/RP = 1/ 1+ 1/103 + 1/106
1/RP = (106+103+1)/ 106
RP = 106/(106+103+1)
RP = 1000000/1001001
RP = RP = 0.999Ω
