Each of these statements contains a democratic and an undemocratic element. Write out the two separately for each statement.

I. A minister said that some laws have to be passed by the parliament in order to conform to the regulations decided by the World Trade Organization (WTO).

II. The Election Commission ordered re-polling in a constituency where large-scale rigging was reported.

III. Women's representation in the parliament has barely reached 10 per cent. This led women's organizations to demand one-third of seats for women.

Answer:

I. In the first sentence, the passing of laws by the parliament is democratic, whereas passing the laws by conformity if WTO is undemocratic.

II. In the second statement, the order of re-polling by the Election Commission is democratic, whereas the large-scale rigging is undemocratic.

III. In the third sentence, Women's representation in the parliament has barely reached 10% is undemocratic. While demanding one-third seats for women by the women organization is democratic.
