New Delhi, April 1, 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the Curriculum for the Academic Session 2026-27 for Classes IX to XII. Circular No. Acad-14/2026 was issued on April 1, 2026 by Professor and Director (Academics), Dr. Pragya M. Singh.

The curriculum for Classes XI and XII was released on April 1, 2026. The curriculum for Classes IX and X was released on April 2, 2026. This is because CBSE is implementing the scheme of studies recommended in the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCF-2023) in Class IX from this academic year.
Alignment of Released Curriculum with NCF-2023
The new curriculum reflects alignment with the vision and principles of NCF-2023. It focuses on competency-based education, experiential learning, flexibility, and holistic development of learners.
Conduction of Webinars
To help understand the released curriculum, a special webinar will be conducted for clarification on the Scheme of Studies and other changes outlined in the initial pages of the Curriculum Secondary Part - I 2026-27.

Instructions to Affiliated Schools
All affiliated schools are requested to:
- Download the complete curriculum, including the initial pages.
- Share it widely with teachers and students for immediate reference.
- Make necessary arrangements for implementing the changes in accordance with the guidelines provided in the initial pages.
- Ensure strict adherence to the prescribed curriculum and the guidelines in the initial pages as well as those specified within individual subject curricula.
Heads of Institutions are advised to:
- Sensitize teachers about the changes.
- Organize special Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs) to apprise parents and students of the salient features of the curriculum changes.
- Ensure effective implementation from the beginning of the Academic Session 2026-27.
Regional Directors/ Officers have been directed to send the circular to all Heads of affiliated schools in their regions. The circular has also been disseminated to various organizations including Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan and Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti.
