What does adrenaline do?

Question:

What does adrenaline do?

Answer:

Adrenaline also called epinephrine is a hormone released by the adrenal medulla, especially during stressful or emergency situations. It triggers the body’s fight to flight response, which means it prepares you to either face danger or escape from it. Adrenaline works very quickly and affects almost every part of the body to boost energy and alertness.

Key Functions of Adrenaline

  • Increases heart rate → pumps more blood to muscles and brain.
  • Widens air passages → allows more oxygen intake.
  • Boosts energy supply → breaks down glycogen in the liver to release glucose.
  • Sharpens alertness → makes you more focused in emergencies.
  • Raises blood pressure → ensures fast circulation to vital organs.
