What causes adrenal fatigue?

Question:

What causes adrenal fatigue?

Answer:

Adrenal fatigue is a term used when people feel constantly tired, stressed, or run down, and it’s believed to happen if the adrenal glands are “overworked.” The idea is that when the body goes through long-term stress, the adrenal glands keep releasing stress hormones (like cortisol) until they can’t keep up, leading to low energy and imbalance.

Possible Causes of Adrenal Fatigue

  • Chronic stress ongoing emotional or physical stress can overwork the glands.
  • Lack of proper sleep poor rest affects hormone balance.
  • Unhealthy lifestyle poor diet, excess caffeine, or skipping meals strain the body.
  • Chronic illness or infections long-term health problems can drain the body’s energy.
  • Emotional strain– anxiety, depression, or trauma increase stress hormone demand.
