(i) When it was expected that with the development of the economy, the secondary sector would replace the primary sector and increase GDP. Will become the most important sector from the point of view but this has not happened in India. Here the tertiary sector has moved ahead of the secondary sector.

(ii) It was also expected that along with development, the participation of the primary sector in employment would decrease and the participation of secondary and tertiary sectors would increase to the maximum, but this did not happen in India. Even today the primary sector is the largest employer. Sufficient employment opportunities have not been created in the secondary and tertiary sectors.
