Stanzas 2, 4, and 6 reflect Amanda's inner thoughts, thus are given in parenthesis. Take it as a child's reaction as instructed in the 1, 3, and 5 stanzas. To make the poem friendly, parenthesis is used. The child's reaction to her mother's scolding; this is an alternate sequence.
