Phloem is a conducting or vascular tissue of the plant that transports food from the leaves to other parts of the plant. Phloem is made up of four types of elements:

(i) sieve tubes (ii) companion cells (iii) phloem fibres and (iv) phloem parenchyma.
Out of these four, only phloem fibres are dead cells.
