Social Issues Project

As part of the CBSE 2026-27 Syllabus, students are required to prepare and submit Class 10 Social Science projects on Sustainable Development. Below you will find some creative project cover images to use, well-designed acknowledgment pages, and even complete project files (in video form) of toppers who have created the best projects on social issues in the past.

The updated marking rubric is as follows:

Assessment Criteria Marks
Research Work 1
Collaboration & Communication 1
Presentation & Content Relevance 1
Competencies (Creativity, Analytical Skills, Evaluation, Synthesising) 2
Total 5

Important Note: As per the syllabus, the Social Issues project must be interdisciplinary in nature, integrating concepts from History, Geography, Political Science, and Economics. Also, the project must be completed in school under the teacher's guidance - CBSE has clearly stated that "carryover of project to home must be strictly avoided."

The Interdisciplinary Approach to Social Issues Project

The CBSE syllabus has explicitly made the Social Issues project interdisciplinary. This means your project should connect the chosen social issue across multiple subjects. Here's how you can integrate all four disciplines:

  • History Connection Traces the historical roots of the social issue. For example, if writing about caste discrimination, link it to social reform movements during the freedom struggle. If writing about poverty, connect it to colonial economic policies covered in "The Making of a Global World."
  • Geography Connection Explore the geographical and environmental dimensions of the issue. Link environmental injustice with chapters like "Forest and Wildlife Resources" and "Water Resources." Discuss regional disparities in resource distribution and how they create social problems.
  • Political Science Connection Connect the issue to chapters like "Gender, Religion and Caste" and "Outcomes of Democracy." Discuss how political institutions, parties, and democratic processes address (or fail to address) these social issues.
  • Economics Connection Link the issue to chapters such as "Development," "Sectors of the Indian Economy," and "Globalisation and the Indian Economy." Examine the economic causes and consequences, role of the unorganised sector, and how globalisation has impacted social issues.

Recommended Project Template for Social Issues Project

The CBSE syllabus provides a suggested template for project presentation. Make sure your project includes the following components:

  1. Name of Students (Team) - List all members involved
  2. Class & Section
  3. Topics of Interdisciplinary Project - Mention which subjects are integrated
  4. Title of the Project - Choose a clear, focused title
  5. Objectives - State 3-5 clear objectives
  6. Multiple Assessment Methods Used - Mention which methods you adopted (surveys, interviews, role play, debate, etc.)
  7. Evidences - Include photos, excerpts from interviews, observations, videos, research references
  8. Overall Presentation - PPT link or shared documents (can be digital or handwritten)
  9. Acknowledgement
  10. References - Websites, books, newspapers, journals

Reflections - A new component where students write about what they learned, challenges faced, and personal insights gained
