Why do we prefer a convex mirror as a rear-view mirror in vehicles?

Answer:

Virtual and erect images are always formed in a convex mirror and have a wide field of vision, due to which the driver is able to see a very large area behind him. Thus, convex mirrors are preferred as rear-view in vehicles.
