Because the axis of rotation of the Earth is tilted at 23.5 degrees to the perpendicular, the circle of light of the Earth differs from summer to winter. Kanyakumari is close to the equator while Kashmir is far away from the equator. So, the difference is felt in Kashmir in winter and summer but not felt in Kanyakumari.
