Question:

Try to represent 85\frac{8}{5} and 74-\frac{7}{4} on a number line. [Page No. 51]

Answer: Verified

Let's do this one by one

Representing 85\frac{8}{5} on number line:

In 85\frac{8}{5}, Numerator > Denominator

So, 85>1\text{So, } \frac{8}{5} > 1

\therefore We make number line form 0 to 2.

Answer image

Since denominator is 5.

\therefore We divide number line between 0 & 1 into 5 equal parts.

Representing 74-\frac{7}{4} on the number line: 74-\frac{7}{4}

Let's draw number line from -2 to 0.

Since in 74-\frac{7}{4}, denominator is 4.

We divide line between -1 & 0 into 4 equal parts.
