Question:

Represent the rational numbers 23,54 and 112 on a single number line. [Page No. 52]\text{Represent the rational numbers }\frac{2}{3},-\frac{5}{4}\text{ and }1\frac{1}{2}\text{ on a single number line. \lbrack Page No. 52\rbrack}

Answer: Verified

23\frac{2}{3} lies between 0 and 1, dividing the segment [0, 1] into 3 equal parts and taking the 2nd division point.

54=114\frac{-5}{4} = -1\frac{1}{4} lies between -2 and -1, at 14\frac{1}{4} of the way from -1 towards -2.

112=321\frac{1}{2} = \frac{3}{2} lies exactly midway between 1 and 2.

Order on the line (left to right): 54<23<32\frac{-5}{4} < \frac{2}{3} < \frac{3}{2}
