The fibres of coconut husk are mainly made of sclerenchyma tissue, which consists of dead cells with thick, lignified cell walls. These thick walls make the fibres hard and brittle. In contrast, the leaf stalks of coriander contain collenchyma tissue, whose living cells have unevenly thickened walls that provide flexibility and support. Therefore, coriander leaf stalks are soft and flexible.
