Toss a paper cup into the air 100 times. After each toss record whether the cup lands on its bottom, upside down on its top or on its side, see given figure. A typical paper cup is much more likely to land on its side because of its narrow base and top.

=80100=45= \frac{80}{100} = \frac{4}{5}

P(bottom)=Number of times it landed on bottomTotal number of trialsP(\text{bottom}) = \frac{\text{Number of times it landed on bottom}}{\text{Total number of trials}}

=18100=950= \frac{18}{100} = \frac{9}{50}

=2100=150= \frac{2}{100} = \frac{1}{50}
