Question:

What if an atom had no empty space? How would this have affected the size of various objects? [Pg. No. 147]

Answer: Verified

If an atom had no empty space, matter would be packed almost as densely as it is in the nucleus. Since most of the volume of an atom is empty space, removing this space would make objects shrink enormously in size, while their mass would remain nearly the same. As a result, various objects around us would become extremely small but very dense. This also supports Rutherford's conclusion from the gold foil experiment that most of the atom is empty space and nearly all its mass is concentrated in the nucleus.
