Suppose there is a rise in atmospheric temperature on Earth. How would this affect the cryosphere, hydrosphere and biosphere?

(1) Impact on the Cryosphere: The cryosphere includes glaciers, ice caps, sea ice, and permafrost. Increased atmospheric temperature would accelerate the melting of glaciers and polar ice caps, reducing the Earth's ice cover. As ice melts, the Earth's albedo decreases because darker land and ocean surfaces absorb more solar radiation, leading to further warming.

(2) Impact on the Hydrosphere: Melting glaciers and ice sheets would raise sea levels and increase the risk of flooding in low-lying coastal regions. Higher temperatures would also increase evaporation, disturbing the water cycle and causing irregular rainfall patterns, floods, and droughts.

(3) Impact on the Biosphere: Changes in temperature and rainfall would disturb natural ecosystems and affect plants, animals, and humans. Many species may lose their habitats and face extinction. Agricultural productivity may decline due to heat waves, droughts, and irregular rainfall. Warmer conditions may also increase the spread of diseases such as malaria and dengue.
