Question:

If the wheel of a bicycle has a diameter of 60 cm, find how far a cyclist will have travelled after the wheel has rotated 100 times.

Answer: Verified

Diameter = 60 cm

Circumference of wheel = πd\pi d

=227×60=13207 cm\begin{aligned} &= \frac{22}{7} \times 60 \\ &= \frac{1320}{7} \text{ cm} \end{aligned}

Distance after 100 revolutions

=100×13207=132000718857.14 cm188.57 m\begin{aligned} &= 100 \times \frac{1320}{7} \\ &= \frac{132000}{7} \\ &\approx 18857.14 \text{ cm} \\ &\approx 188.57 \text{ m} \end{aligned}
