Question:

How do seeds and fruits affect, where and how plants can survive? [Pg. No. 238]

Answer: Verified

Seeds and fruits help plants survive and spread to new places. A seed contains a young plant embryo, stored food and a protective seed coat, so it can remain safe and dormant until conditions such as water, air and suitable temperature become favourable for germination. Fruits protect the seeds and help in their dispersal by wind, water, animals or bursting of the fruit. This dispersal prevents overcrowding near the parent plant, reduces competition for light, water and minerals, and allows plants to grow in suitable habitats. Thus, seeds and fruits increase the chances of survival and spread of plants.
