For the sound wave represented by the graph shown in Fig. what is half of its wavelength? [Pg. No. 195]

From the graph, the distance between two consecutive crests is about 3.0 cm, so the wavelength is:

λ=3.0 cm\lambda = 3.0 \text{ cm}

Half of the wavelength is:

λ2=3.02=1.5 cm\frac{\lambda}{2} = \frac{3.0}{2} = 1.5 \text{ cm}

Therefore, half of its wavelength is 1.5 cm.
