Super Important Chapters Insights : Score BIG In Maths Class 10!

Exam season is always a mess. So much rush, pressure and fear of forgetting even the simplest concepts which we studied 5 mins ago. Happens every time, right? And if the same happens when the subject is “MATHEMATICS” - Game Over!

So keeping in mind the smallest of your needs , we are sharing some important chapters and their important insights below all from NCERT Math Textbook for Class 10.

Go through them and ACE your Board Exams!

Real Numbers -

Important Concepts :
  1. Euclid’s Division Algorithm: This fundamental concept states that any positive integer "a" can be divided by another positive integer "b" in such a way that it leaves a remainder "r" that is smaller than "b".
  2. Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic: Another cornerstone of Chapter 1, this theorem asserts that every positive integer greater than 1 can be represented uniquely as a product of prime numbers.

Pair of Linear Equation -

Key Takeaways :
  1. When lines intersect at a single point, the pair of equations has a unique solution, forming a consistent pair of equations.
  2. If the lines are parallel, the equations yield no solution, resulting in an inconsistent pair of equations.
  3. When lines coincide, the equations offer infinitely many solutions, creating a dependent (consistent) pair of equations.

Arithmetic Progressions -

Overview :
  1. An arithmetic progression (AP) is a sequence of numbers. Each term is obtained by adding a fixed number, called the common difference, to the preceding term.
  2. The common difference can be positive, negative, or zero.
  3. The general form of an AP is a, a + d, a + 2d, a + 3d, and so on.
  4. In an AP with the first term "a" and common difference "d", the nth term (or the general term) is given by the formula: an = a + (n – 1) d.

Triangles -

 Major concepts :
  1. AAA Similarity Criterion: If in two triangles, corresponding angles are equal, then their corresponding sides are in the same ratio, and hence the two triangles are similar.
  2. AA Similarity Criterion: If in two triangles, two angles of one triangle are respectively equal to the two angles of the other triangle, then the two triangles are similar.
  3. SSS Similarity Criterion: If in two triangles, corresponding sides are in the same ratio, then their corresponding angles are equal, and hence the triangles are similar.
  4. SAS Similarity Criterion: If one angle of a triangle is equal to one angle of another triangle, and the sides including these angles are in the same ratio (proportional), then the triangles are similar.

Introduction to Trigonometry -

Important Formulae :
  1. In a right triangle ABC, right-angled at B,
  2. sin A = side opposite to angle A/hypotenuse
  3. ‍cos A = side adjacent to angle A/hypotenuse
  4. tan A = side opposite to angle A /side adjacent to angle A
  5. The values of trigonometric ratios for angles 0°, 30°, 45°, 60° and 90°

Some Applications of Trigonometry -

Keep these in mind :
  1. Line of sight: The line from the observer's eye to the viewed object.
  2. Angle of elevation: The angle formed by the line of sight with the horizontal when the object is above eye level.
  3. Angle of depression: The angle formed by the line of sight with the horizontal when the object is below eye level.

Areas Related to Circle -

Main Formulae :
  1. Length of an arc of a sector of a circle with radius r and angle with degree measure angle is angle/360 *2 pie x r.
  2. Area of a sector of a circle with radius r and angle with degree measure (angle) is angle/360 *pi x r2.
  3. Area of segment of a circle = Area of the corresponding sector – Area of the corresponding triangle.

Probability -

Scoring Chapter with Easy Concepts :
  1. The theoretical (classical) probability of an event E, written as P(E), is defined as
  2. P (E) = Number of outcomes favorable to E / Number of all possible outcomes of the experiment where we assume that the outcomes of the experiment are equally likely.
  3. The probability of a sure event (or certain event) is 1.
  4. The probability of an impossible event is 0.

The following chapters are rationalized from the Class 10 NCERT.
